2010
Family Golf Night will be held on Wednesdays during June and July of 2010.
The dates of Family Golf will be:
Wednesdays June 23rd & 30th.
Wednesdays July 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th. .
The following outline will be followed each Wednesday.
1. Juniors, ages 5-17, are invited to a one-half-hour golf lesson from 5:00-5:30 at the upper range tee. Parents (no age restriction) will receive a one-half-hour golf lesson from 5:00-5:30 at the bottom range tee..
2. At 5:45, Juniors and Parents are encouraged to play a 9-hole golf tournament.
The golf lesson and tournament schedule will be as follows:
Wednesday June 23rd #9 Iron Target Practice Scramble
Wednesday June 30th Driver from a tee Alternate Shot
Wednesday July 7th #7 chip and run Shambles
Wednesday July 14th Putting & Green etiquette Shambles
Wednesday July 21st Fairway woods Scramble
Wednesday July 28th Driver from a tee Alternate Shot
Scramble Each golfer on team hits drive, the best position is chosen and each golfer hits from there and so on until hole is completed.
Alternate shot On the 1st hole, the oldest golfer drives, the second oldest hits the next shot and so on in that order until hole is completed. On the next hole, continue with order starting with golfer who follows the golfer who putted into hole on previous hole.
Shambles On each hole, each golfer drives and the best position is chosen. Each golfer then plays his own ball into the hole from there. The best score of the teammates counts toward the scoring.
Yardages of the holes to be played will be approximately:
Hole #1 300 yards Hole #6 250 yards
Hole #2 200 yards Hole #7 300 yards
Hole #3 125 yards Hole #8 125 yards
Hole #4 250 yards Hole #9 250 yards
Hole #5 250 yards
General Rules of tournament play:
1. For speed of play, all golfers play from the same tee. Yes, this means the adults tee off from the shorter tees with the juniors.
2. Adult men must tee off with an iron. No woods or hybrids for the first shot on any hole.
3. For speed of play, each golfer should pick up after ten strokes on any hole.
4. Team may consist of up to four golfers with at least one junior and no more than two adults.
Cost of Family Golf:
$ 5 per golfer per Wednesday lesson.
$ 5 per family for golf tournament prizes each Wednesday.
Gentle reminders:
1. Play on the short course should take less than two hours.
2. Please replace divots, fix ball marks on greens, and rake sand after all sand shots.
3. Golfers must have a driver’s license to drive golf carts.
4. Allow faster players behind you to play through.
IMPORTANT:
This Family Golf Program should be viewed as an add-on to the regular Junior Golf Program at Wooster Country Club and not as an alternative or replacement. Of course, scheduling problems, vacations, and summer camps, make attendance at all Family Golf and Junior Golf days almost impossible, but juniors are encouraged to attend as many as possible. Remember that golf is more easily learned at an early age than at a later age. We want the junior golfers to attend both the Family Golf and the regular Junior Golf Programs. The regular Junior Golf Program will continue as always on Thursday mornings in June, July, and August.
