Dear Members,
Our goal is to provide members updates as the situation regarding COVID -19 evolves. The Board of Directors, has decided to open the golf course to use of carts beginning Friday, April 24
th, weather permitting. The safety of our members, guests and staff is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment during this difficult period. To ensure golf operation runs smoothly and safely, cooperation from the membership is vital. Items below may change at any time so thank you in advance for your support.
Use of the Golf Course – The golf course along with carts will be available beginning Friday, April 24
th, the golf course will be reserved for golfing activities only after 9:00AM. This is to ensure member safety as well as provide courtesy for those playing golf.
Tee Times - We are asking all members to make tee times in advance during the month of April and May. Tee times may be made by contacting the golf shop directly If making a tee time the day of, please call the golf shop at 330.263.1988. Tee times will be spaced out in 15-minute intervals to allow proper social distancing on the golf course. As an additional social distancing measure, we are asking our players to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time. If players arrive without a tee time or have to wait longer than 15 minutes, they will be asked to wait in their vehicles.
Safety / Sanitation - Consistent with the CDC guidelines and recommendations by the PGA of America and CMAA, we have implemented the following measures:
- Upon arrival, members are required to carry their clubs from their cars to the cart staging area.
- There should be no physical contact between players and the Wooster Country Club staff.
- Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained at all times.
- There will be no access to the clubhouse / locker rooms.
- Restrooms will be available next to number #4 green and at the tennis courts. The Code for the doors is 421. The restrooms will be cleaned & disinfected daily.
- We will be using Clorox Wipes and a CDC approved disinfectant to spray cart steering wheels, seats, handrails and cubbies to ensure safety of all players.
Golf Shop - There will be limited accessibility to the Golf Shop so that we can keep clubhouse traffic to a minimum. We ask that members notify the golf staff upon arrival if they need to purchase balls, gloves, apparel, etc. Products will be delivered to members outside of the Golf Shop.
Outside Golf Operations- With no bag room staff available at this time, there will be no club cleaning services, storage or staff to assist with retrieving clubs.
Practice Areas- The putting green will be available, provided that there are no more than 3 people on it at one time. The driving range and short game area will be unavailable until further notice.
Golf Carts / Push Carts - Golf carts will be available on a first come first served basis with a strict one person per cart policy in place,
(unless riding with an immediate family member residing in the same household). Personal push carts are permitted.
- Members will be asked to transport their own bags to and from their cart eliminating any direct contact with the staff.
- Score cards and pencils will be located at the scoreboard and first tee boxes. Hand sanitizer will be located next to the scorecards/tees/pencils. We ask that each player use the hand sanitizer before taking any of these items.
- A box will be placed at the scoreboard for members to place their scorecards for handicap reporting. Kelly will retrieve the cards throughout the day and enter them into the system.
- Cart towels will not be available for your round. Members are welcome to bring their own towel from home.
- Water will not be available at the cart staging area or on the course. Members may bring their own water bottle from home. Bottled and canned beverages are available by contacting the golf shop at 330.263.1988. The golf shop will bag beverages for you upon request.
- Members are required to take their clubs and shoes home with them at the end of each round.
- During the months of April and May, all WCC golf carts are requested be returned to the clubhouse by 8:00 pm.
- When returning your cart following golf, we ask members to please remove all personal items and trash from your cart and place trash in the receptacles provided.
- Members are to return carts to the cartbarn staging area. Upon return, we ask that all members please, use a Clorox Wipe to wipe down the steering wheel, handrails, roof handle and any other areas that you may have touched during your round.
Following these guidelines will help provide a safer opportunity for all those playing.
Social Member / Guest Play - Members are permitted to bring guests during this period. Guest fees will be $40.00 plus cart fees.
All guest fees will be charged to member accounts at this time and guests must abide by all polices and guidelines.
Eliminating Touchpoints - Consistent with the CDC guidelines and recommendations by the PGA of America and CMAA, we have implemented the following measures:
- Bunkers - Rakes have been removed from all bunkers. If players find themselves in a bunker, players are permitted to play their shot. We ask at the completion of the shot that players simply use their foot to smooth out the area. If a player is in a bunker that has multiple foot prints, the player may lift, clean and place the ball at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.
- Sand Bottles - Sand bottles have been removed from the golf carts. Players should replace divots when they are able.
- Flagsticks – We have cut and placed small portions of pool noodles on the bottom of the flagsticks to elevate golf balls in each hole. Players are asked not to touch the flagsticks and to leave them in while putting. The golf ball will sit at the top of the noodle, allowing easy access for a player to retrieved it.
- Ball Washers & Trash Cans - Have been removed from the golf course.
